Thai firms encouraged to set up in Pakistan

27/09/2004

Thai firms – particularly those in the leather, textiles, and chemicals, and sporting industries – are being encouraged to establish operations in Pakistan. The Punjab Minister of Industries and Investment, Ajmal Cheema, made the offer during a four-day visit to Thailand when he met with industry officials.

Pakistan is trying to encourage the Thai businesses to establish themselves in one of the many new industrial estates being created in Pakistan, where there is cheap land and skilled labour. The visit to Thailand was organised to promote trade between the two countries.
