Bata Italia turnover rises 10%

23/09/2004

Leading footwear company Bata Italia - a subsidiary of Czech-Canadian Bata Shoe Organisation – has reported an increase of 10% in turnover for the first half of 2004. Turnover for the period was reported to be €143 million ($175.25 million) and is estimated to reach €314 million by the year’s end.

In a breakdown of the results, statements show that retail sales accounted for some 80% of the company’s turnover. This could be attributed to a 5% decrease in Bata retail prices year-on-year. Bata is nonetheless bucking the trend, as purchases as a whole have dipped. 16% of turnover came from franchising and 4% from trading.
