Pakistan’s leather exports down 10% on last year

In August 2004 Pakistan exported finished leather products worth $53.748 million, compared with $54.331 million in July, according to the country’s Federal Bureau of Statistics.

 

The figure breakdown showed the country exported finished leather worth $16.7 million, finished leather manufacturing (garments, gloves, etc) worth $32.4 million and footwear that accounted for $4.7 million. July figures showed higher values of $17.9 million, $31.6 million and $4.8 million respectively.

 

This shows a decline of 7% and 2% in value of exports of finished leather and footwear in the dollar and a rise of 2.7% in leather manufacturing in August. Total leather sector exports in July and August – the first two months of the current financial year – reached $108 million against $120 million in the same period of 2003, showing a 10% decrease.
