Le Cuir à Paris attracts la crème de la crème

21/09/2004

Focusing on the luxury and mid-top range of leather materials Le Cuir à Paris - which ran September 13-15 - attracted an exclusive 200 exhibitors, from 19 different countries to show the latest top-end materials and colours for autumn/winter 2005/2006.

The show encompassed a wide range of branches of the industry. The majority of exhibitors, 52%, were from the finished and semi-finished leather sector, although many other sectors were also represented. One area which showed a particular increase in participation was the exotic leather sector.

The reptile area appears to be one for instance where TCIM Rogwiller and France Croco have major market shares.
According to Dan Lewkowicz, Franc
e Croco has doubled production in the last two years and is planning a further doubling over the next three. TCIM Rogwiller has developed into a small multi-national with plants and offices in Italy, USA, and Switzerland, as well as its French Headquarters. The company has rapidly accelerated product development working on colours, reflective and metallic looks.

This sector added a new specialised area to the fair with the numbers represented sharply increased compared with the figures for 2003.

The show also put together an event called the Trends Gallery which showcased materials, components and colours for autumn/winter 2005/2006. Some of the notable trends were braided finishing, engraving, and embossing in leather. From the colour perspective, berry reds and neutral colours contrasted with metallic chromes were the general themes.
