British Army takes on trainer giants
The British Army has begun a new battle. It has thrown down the gauntlet to the likes of adidas, Nike, Reebok, and Puma with the launch of a new sports trainer - the PT-03. For the first time in history, a trainer will bear the insignia of the British Army and will be endorsed by it.
Designed and tested in conjunction with the army’s own fitness instructors, the new shoe will take on the big boys of sport shoes in both design and durability.
Although the Army will receive royalty payments from the shoe sales, it is not guaranteed to be the next standard issue shoe for recruits. The Army is adamant that it is of the highest quality but, with a retail price of £79 ($141), it may have priced itself out of the Army’s budget.
