Hermès results boosted by luggage

17/09/2004

Luxury goods producer Hermès International has reported a solid first half in 2004, with sales increasing by 13% to reach €620.5 million ($754.45 million) and net profit for the group increasing 12.4% to €94.8 million for the period.

All sectors of the company showed solid results, but bags and luggage performed particularly well. This sector showed an increase of 24% compared with the same period in 2003. These strong results can be attributed to increased production capacity due to a rise in demand.

Geographically, Hermès saw growth in all areas: European sales increased 10%, the Americas rose 26%, whilst Asia increased by 20%.
