Following fashion and footwear companies Garant and Salamander’s application for insolvency, Rene Jaeggi - the former CEO of adidas - is said to be putting together a plan to save Salamander from bankruptcy.

This is not the first time that Jaeggi has shown an interest in the shoe retailer. He attempted to acquire Salamander in 2003, but a decision was made to sell the company to Garant Schuh & Mode. However, with both Garant and Salamander now having filed for bankruptcy, the field is clear for the president of Kaiserslautern football club to takeover the shoe chain. Jaeggi is set to meet with the administrators this week.
