Cuban farmer develops miniature cow
The downsizing business has been taken to a new level by a Cuban farmer who has succeeded in breeding dwarf cows.
The 72-year old farmer from San Juan y Martinez achieved the feat through a programme of inbreeding among smaller animals. Raul Hernandez's herd is only three feet tall.
The aim of this feat, going back a long way to a Fidel Castro’s idea, is to create animals small enough to be kept by city-dwellers and able to produce more than three litres of milk a day.
Mr Hernandez told Las Ultimas Noticias the breeding success is a 'dream come true.'
