Slovak vets have confirmed the 17th case of mad cow disease in a four and a half year old cow from an East Slovak farm, according to the State Veterinary Administration.

Vets have also identified 16 infected animals that will be put down by August 25.

This is the fourth case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Slovakia this year. So far, Slovak vets have tested almost 60,000 animals for the disease this year.
