Leather goods boost Hermès results
The world-renowned French luxury goods manufacturer, Hermès International has published its second quarter results for 2004, reporting a 19% rise in turnover to $763.7 million (€620.5 million), compared with €549.3 million for the same period last year.
The results for the second quarter exceeded expectations and the group said that the sales environment was showing signs of improvement.
First-half growth was led by Hermes’ leather goods branch, where demand for its hand-made products still outstrips supply, the company said. An increase in sales of 16.7% was largely attributed to a 23.7% in the handbag and luggage section.
