Meet in Africa 2004 expects a high turn-up

Addis Ababa in Ethiopia will host Meet in Africa on 6 – 9 October 2004 at the Centre of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

 

So far the International Trade Centre has registered about 290 applications from African and non-African firms. Of the 247 African companies, 65 come from Ethiopia, 73 from other ESALIA countries, 75 from Northern Africa and 34 from other African countries. As for international companies, there are 40 participants to date, mainly from Italy (with a collective ASSOMAC pavilion and the presence of ICE), from Brazil (with a collective ASSINTECAL pavilion), from Great Britain, France, Spain, Turkey, Iran and India.

 

The sectors represented will include finished and semi-finished leathers, finished products, footwear, fancy goods, leather clothing, chemicals, materials and equipment, components and services.

 

The event will also host partnership and buyer/seller meetings, bringing together more than 300 enterprises and promote the development of business between African and African and international companies. It will also present the opportunity for African leather professionals to gather together for the General Meeting of AFLAI (African Federation of Leather and Allied Industries).

 

Ethiopia is a major leather-producing country with a livestock herd of 35 million cattle, 23 million sheep and 18 million goats, placed among the 10 world leaders for cattle.
