Brazilian footwear targets Russia

22/07/2004

Heitor KleinMD of Abicalçados, Brazilian Footwear Manufacturers Association, has returned from a market survey trip to Russia and Germany where he established contacts and sought service suppliers to set up the Mostra Brasil Russia show.

He was accompanied by Cristina Kopschina, marketing consultant for Brazilian Footwear Export Promotion Programme, and Aurea Yamashita of ABECA, Brazilian Association of Footwear Designers.

To take place in Moscow on 24 – 30 September, the show aims at brining together the shoe, garment, jewellery and cosmetics sectors. Throughout the week Brazilian manufacturers will present their products to potential buyers and opinion formers.

The four Brazilian sectors have been targeting Russia for some time, but the show is to be the biggest attempt yet at penetrating the market.

In 2003 Russia bought 581 thousand pairs of shoes from Brazil, generating a turnover of $5.3 million.
