The Leather Technology Centre - SENAI (CTC-SENAI) of Estancia Velha-RS, has opened a new laboratory which will be used by all regular students and for improvement courses. It has been set up in partnership with the chemical product and machinery sectors through a project under which each industry adopts a part of the lab.

Another of the Centre's innovations is the opening of a Fashion Workshop, coordinated by a design specialist and a product engineer. According to Prof. Darlene Finseca Rodrigues, director of CTC-SENAI, the workshop will offer students a unique chance to learn about fashion concepts, about the planning and developing of different types of leather in accordance with latest trends and methods.
