China set to increase its shoe prices – 9.7

China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has announced that the country’s shoe manufacturing industry must increase the pricing of shoe products if it is to compete both effectively and profitably.

Although the export situation in China is positive with an increasing number of orders from international merchants, Mr Xu Yong, director of CLIA, announced the industry’s profits have declined as a result of the rise in the price of raw material.

But, some industry officials are concerned that increasing the price would drive foreign markets to purchase from other countries such as India, Pakistan and Brazil.
