29/06/2004

At a recent meeting of the 10th anniversary of Zhejiang Leather Industry Association, the production value and net income of the province’s key shoe enterprises in the last decade were made known. According to the website of the China Leather Industry Information Centre (CLIA), the biggest volumes were recorded by Aokang Group.  In recognition of this, Mr. Wang zhen Tao,  president of Aokang group was conferred with the honourable title of “Ambassador with Special Contribution to Zhejiang Leather Industry.”

In a separate award ceremony held June 26 in the People’s Congress Hall of Beijing, Mr Wang zhen Tao was also recognised as one of the country’s top ten engineering entrepreneurs. Chosen through public appraisal, Mr Wang was the only representative of the country’s shoe industry.

Mr Wang zhen Tao’s strategy for Aokang has been credited with stimulating the development of the country’s shoe industry. In 2003, Aokang invested 1 billion ($121 million ) in Bishan county, Chongqi, helping forge the western China shoe production base together with the local government.  It also pioneered the trend towards co-operating with huge foreign  giants such as GEOX. The company’s latest promotional activity includes sponsorship of a delegation of athletes who will cheer for the Chinese players for Athens Olympics.
