Smugglers hit Philippine output in April

Smuggled goods and the soft domestic market are being blamed for the 95% drop seen in the Philippines leather industry production index during April.

The Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI) also recorded sharp declines in footwear and apparel.  This was against the backdrop of big recorded increases in domestic purchases of leather products and footwear.
