Paris welcomes vegtanned leather
In mid-May, the Italian Consortium Vera Pelle Conciata al Vegetale brought its Natural Sensations presentation to the Centre Beaubourg, one of the city’s most important centres for modern international visual art.
Founded in 1994, the consortium has 31 Tuscan tanneries as members and has been promoting its quality trademark for the past decade. Its aim is to increase the use of all natural vegetable extracts while respecting the environnment and the Tuscan craft. Trends for spring and summer 2005 were presented, based on Nature and split into three main themes — genuine, festive and enigmatic.
Among the 300-strong audience were representatives from Chanel, Cartier, Dupont, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Dior, Celine, Pierre Cardin, Dumest, Lagerfeld Gallery, Givenchy, Loewe, Yves Saint Laurent and Longchamp to name but a few.
Associations such as the French Chamber of Commerce, UNIFA (house furnishing association), Comité Vendôme, la Casa, Saga Furs, the Bureau de Style Maroquinerie Cuir, the Conseil National du cuir, l’IFM (Fashion French Institute) also attended.
