Italian experts give training to Vietnam leather and shoe industry

Around 80 designers and technicians selected from Vietnamese leather and shoe enterprises are taking part in a special training programme funded by the Italian government.

It is the first time Vietnam has been given access to the programme, but the Italian Trade Commission (ITC), which is implementing the training, is keen on giving support to the country’s leather and shoe industry.

The three-week training began last week and will take place in southern areas such as Ho Chi Min City, as well as in Hanoi and other northern regions.

ITC representative, Vo Thanh Kiet, said: “We hope to improve the capability of local shoe-designing staff by giving them training courses lead by the top Italian experts in the leather and shoe field.”

Vietnam is currently holding the Shoe and Leather Fashion exhibition in Ho Chi Min City where up to 4,000 samples of shoes from 60 businesses are on display until June 28.
