A special leather products zone will be established in Varamin City, Iran, by the end of the current Iranian calendar year 1383 (March 20 2004-March 19 2005). Speaking to the national media, Ali Asgar Naser Bakht, governor of Varamin City, said the 100 hectare zone would be established with the aim of boosting the country’s leather exports. He added that although initiation of the zone was currently under study in the Supreme Council of Free Trade Zones, he expected it to be given the green light by the government by March 19 2005.
