The National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leathergoods and Tannery Machines, ASSOMAC, has announced a meeting that will almost directly coincide with this year’s ‘Meet In Africa’ in Ethiopia.
To be held at the Hotel Sheraton in Addis Ababa on October 4-8, the meeting overlaps with the 2004 edition of Meet In Africa, which will take place October 6-9 at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) centre, also in Addis Ababa. According to ASSOMAC, the meeting is aimed at bringing “European and Ethiopian businessmen in the leather sector together, with a view to favouring initiatives of mutual interest for the Ethiopian export industry.” Technical and financial support for the meeting has been obtained from the ‘Pro€invest’ organisation and partner organisations include the Ethiopian Tanners Association and the Spanish Association of Footwear Component Manufacturing Industries. ASSOMAC members supply over 50% of the world demand for shoe and leathergoods machinery and over 80% of the demand for tannery machines.
