04/06/2004

A Leather Service Centre is to be established in Dhaka, Bangladesh to assist in raising the country’s annual leather and leather product exports a massive 423% to $1 billion.

Italy will supply $4 million in funding for the centre while Geneva’s International Trade Centre will provide technical support.

According to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau, the majority of the country’s leather exports (80%) are crust leather, in particular from the black Bengal goat and the buffalo.
