In a surprise development, German chemicals giant Bayer Materials has announced the appointment of Dr. Axel Westerhaus as head of its Lanxess spin off business (formerly the Fine Chemicals Business Unit of Bayer). Previously the head of polyethers in the Bayer MaterialScience AG subgroup, Dr Westerhaus replaces Dr. Rudolf Hanko, who has left the company at his own request.
