A delegation of French leather professionals are to visit Kolkata this week in order to explore the possibility of increasing the amount of leather sourced in the Indian city.
The group, which will be led by the president of France’s Federation of Leather Products, Pierre Waintraub, will meet with India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) and officials from the Calcutta Leather Complex (CLC).
France is one of India’s largest importers of leather and leather products. During 2002-2003, the country imported leather from India worth a total of $86.6 million.
