UK leathermaker caters for desk restorers
One of the UK’s top upholstery leather manufacturers, Muirhead, has launched a new bespoke service of completed desk top inlays.
Aimed at traditional furniture makers, antique and private restorers who require a high quality finish and service, Muirhead’s custom gold embossed ‘Desking Leathers’ are the latest addition to its extensive product portfolio.
The company’s popular Lustrana range of luxury leathers has been specifically developed and tailored for traditional desk top and upholstery applications. Available in six colours - chestnut, rust, green, cinnamon, black and oxblood - Lustrana is a 1.00mm thick, full grain high performance leather that has a two-tone finish and is suitable for all contract and domestic applications, in particular more traditional applications.
“There’s nothing like leather when it comes to desktops,” said Nicholas Hanna, business development officer for Muirhead. “The material’s beauty and smooth durability has made it the covering of choice for generations of high quality desks.
“It’s a complete bespoke service - customers merely have to provide us with a choice of leather, precise measurements and a choice of gold embossed design and we will cut and hand tool the finishes to order.” said Nicholas. Muirhead says it has developed a step by step guide to desking available on request together with sample cards.
