BASF has announced the temporary closure of parts of its formic acid plant at Ludwigshafen, Germany, citing the ‘unsatisfactory market situation.’ While selected parts of the plant will be brought back on stream in mid-May, others will stay closed for another few weeks afterwards.  The suspension will not affect supplies to customers, the company says.   Formic acid is used the production of both leather and textiles.
