Judge drops Tyson verdict

27/04/2004

A federal judge in Montgomery, Alabama, has thrown out a $1.28 billion suit against Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc., the largest meat packer in the U.S. The suit began when cattlemen sued the beef division of the company for the alleged manipulation of cattle prices. In ending the case the judge said that the cattlemen failed to produce evidence at the trial “with respect to both liability and damages.” The cattlemen plan to appeal.
