APLF names the winners
For the first time in its 20 year history, the Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF) which closed in
Ten winners were selected by a judging panel of manufacturers, distributors and media professionals and were honoured with a trophy and money off a stand or publicity for next year’s show. Prizes were awarded for exhibitors at both APLF Materials, Manufacturing and Technology and Fashion Access – Handbags, Travelware, Footwear, Leather Garments and Fashion Accessories.
The UK-based company behind World Leather magazine, World Trades Publishing, received the ‘Special Technology Education Award’ for its ‘Back to Basics’ series written by Technical Editor, Richard Daniels.
The ‘Best Quality Award’ went to Lamac Co Ltd for its Maestro wallet, designed by Kayoko Ito, while ‘Best New Innovation Award’ was given to Chaconne Leather Co Ltd for its ‘Being’ Mobile Phone Case by Ben Zhang.
Limonta/1893 scooped the ‘Best New Non-Leather Material’ prize for its Textile of Lycra Filet on PU Base, designed by Celestino Panteri. ‘Best New Leather’ went to Carsten’s Suede and Leather for its Washable Naked White Lambskin, created by Seafuro Gerardo.
‘Best New Component’ was awarded to Uhlsystem
‘Best Technology Award for Travelware’ went to designer Hikeo Wakamatsu while ‘Best Ladies’ Casual Footwear Collection’ was scooped by Jocomomola de Sybilla. Magrit was awarded the ‘Best Ladies Luxury Footwear Collection’ title and Pertini-Igmapa the ‘Best Men's Luxury Footwear Collection’.
Vanessa Tsang was honoured with the ‘Special Creativity Award’ for her collection of leather sunglasses and leather/metal-combination outfits. Kowalski Shoes took the ‘Best Mens Casual Footwear Collection’ title while ‘Best Stand Design’ went to Gilles Caffier.
