Xinrong Leather Company to become Asia’s largest tannery?

Urumchi Customs in China has predicted that Xinrong Leather Company, a division of the Zhejiang-based Casen Group, is likely to become Asia’s largest tannery.

 

The company plans to import and process up to 1 million cattle skins and 1.5 million sheep skins during 2004 for export to Asian countries.

 

Casen Group is China’s largest tannery and generated sales of Y1.45 billion ($175.2 million) during 2003. The company produces high-end sofa and garment leathers for export to north America and western Europe.
