Clariant consolidates UK facilities

The German speciality chemicals giant, Clariant, has announced that operations at its Beverley, UK manufacturing plant are to be transferred to its Selby facility. All manufacturing activities at the Beverley site will be discontinued at the end of 2005, with the loss of 20 jobs.

 

The company plans to increase investment at the Selby site, where it currently employs 126 workers, and build it into a ‘centre of excellence’ for the phenol chemistry industry.

 

Clariant also said that operations at its Azo facility in Chemiepark Knapsack, Germany will be shut down at the end of 2005 – 71 employees will be affected.
