Wittchen in the black, despite falling sales

24/03/2004

Poland’s largest producer of luxury leather goods, Wittchen, has posted full year 2003 profits of zł2.1 million ($545,695), despite the fact its revenues declined 5% to zł40 million ($10.4 million).

In September 2003, 45,000 gloves were stolen from the company, hitting sales. In January 2004, some of the stolen stock was recovered, however, boosting revenues to a higher than anticipated level.

For 2004, the company has set itself a profit target of zł3 million ($779,508) and hopes to increased revenues 10% and expand its network of stores to between 20 and 25 outlets.
