Heibei’s fur exports top $240 million in 2003

Fur exports from Heibei province in China rose a massive 410% to $240 million during 2003, accounting for 50.3% of the national total. The majority was exported from Henghui city ($150 million), accounting for 62.5%.

 

The increased demand for fur boosted the export price from $26 to $249.40, the highest level since 1998. The main market was Russia, which imported skins worth $230 million.

 

Heibei province is also one of China’s largest suppliers of leather and hides, along with Xinji, Liushi, Shuning and Zhaoqiang city.
