EGA names Diane Keaton ‘Global Glove Wearer of the Year 2004’

The European Glove Association (EGA) has named actress Diane Keaton ‘Global Glove Wearer of the Year 2004’.

Also considered for the award were Sarah Jessica Parker, Monica Bellucci (of ‘The Matrix’ fame), Madonna and Samuel L. Jackson; stars the EGA said, have made a big impression while wearing gloves, both on and off the big screen.

Comprising eight glovemaking professionals drawn from the trade body representing Europe’s glovemakers, the EGA judging panel looked not just at the nominees’ wider fashion sense, but also their willingness to innovate from a stylistic point of view.

Ivo Portolano, chairman of the EGA judging panel said: “With her natural poise and devastatingly attractive smile, Diane Keaton has always embodied the idea of the sophisticated, urban beauty. And almost from the outset, the gloved hand has been an integral part of her look. Whether wearing a pair made from the finest kid leather or a suede pair from Gucci, the effect is always one of breathtaking elegance.  That, and the fact that she comes across as a likeable, warm person, is why we agreed that the honour of Global Glove Wearer of the Year 2004 should be awarded to her.”
