In order to resolve the ongoing row over rules of origin between India and Thailand, the countries have agreed to temporarily fix the local content level at 40% for export goods under the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The assistant director general for Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, Ms Ubolphan Klykoom, has emphasised the need for the strengthening of trade relations between the countries and said they were currently trying to reach a solution favourable to both parties.
Executives from the Thai trade centre in Mumbai will meet with Indian representatives in Chennai, March 22-23 2004. Professionals from the leather, consumer products, foodstuffs and kitchenware industries will be present at the conference.
