Vietnam on track for $2.7 billion leather exports
Vietnamese leather and footwear companies have reported a high level of export contracts for June, raising hopes that the industry will hit its $2.7 billion export target for the year.
The contracts, which include the production of 430 million pairs of shoes, 30 million handbags and 32 million leather products, will help generate 450,000 new jobs.
The rise in demand has been generated by product promotion campaigns throughout the year and an increase in new designs and products appealing to foreign customers.
In order to reduce production costs, industry professionals plan to increase the number of materials and accessories manufactured domestically.
