‘Fire retardant` leather to debut at next Le Cuir à Paris

The world’s first fire-retardant leather’ will be among the innovations showcased at the next edition of the Paris leather show, Le Cuir à Paris, the show organisers SIC Group have advised.

 

Developed with furniture applications primarily in mind, the leather will debut on the Erreci of Italy exhibition stand.  French leathermaker Lauret will also be showing a series of seriagraphed and imprinted Nappa leathers while fellow French manufacturer Gouillardon Gaudry will be using its appearance at the show to unveil ‘Lafex’, a lightweight sole in microcellular rubber for summer footwear.

 

The April show will incorporate a number of events based on the themes of design, fashion and materials.  While SIC Group will be providing stand space for up and coming young designers on the fringes of its ‘Design Events’ area, an exhibition by the French Fashion Institute will explore new applications for leather.  There will also be a glove-themed exhibition featuring the projects of nine international designers from the Institute’s Design Course.

 

Previewing finished leather, fur, textile and component collections for spring/summer 2005, the next edition of the will take place at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, April 15-16 2004.
