Brazilian leather and travelgoods manufacturers form own Association
ABIACAV is the name given to the new Brazilian Association of Leather and Travelgoods manufacturers.
At last month’s Cuoromoda show, ABIACAV's newly-elected president, Henrique Dayer, described the association’s main purpose as being to generate employment and wealth through the development of the leather and travel goods sector. According to IBGE, the Brazilian Geography and Statistics Institute, in 2000 the Brazilian leather and travelgoods sector comprised 1,218 companies with a combined turnover of R$815 million (approx. $300 million). It provided employment for around 30,000 who together earned R$156 million.
