Saga Furs of Scandinavia’s fashion director, Tom Steifel-Kristensen, has been named by The Face magazine as one most powerful individuals in the world of fashion 2004.

He has been placed tenth in the magazine’s ‘Haute 100’ list and is well ahead of designers Dolce & Gabbana (13), Giorgio Armani (35) and Stella McCartney (60).

Saga says his vision has helped the company to re-invent fur through experiments and the development of new techniques including dying, knitting, shearing, plucking and lacing.

Steifel-Kristensen says: “I believe this is more than a turn-around of a brand, it’s a turn-around of the fur industry which has successfully geared itself towards a much broader consumer segment.”

John Galliano was at the top of the list, followed by Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen.
