CAD/CAM cutting specialist Gerber Technology has said it is to centralise its Shanghai Advanced Technology Centre and sales and service operations.
The new 2,500 m2 facility will be located at the city’s Caohejing Hi-Tech Park. Gerber has also doubled the size of its office in Guangzhou to accommodate its burgeoning business there and established an Express Logistics Center in Hong Kong to expedite parts deliveries to customers throughout Asia.
The Advanced Technology Centre houses Gerber’s state-of-the-art automated spreading and cutting systems, including the newest Taurus XD leather cutter, and a complete line of CAD systems. It also serves as a centre for demonstrations, software testing, systems training, customer telephone support and hardware and maintenance training for Gerber’s regional agents and distributors.
“China is the second largest market for Gerber after the U.S.,” said James Arthurs, President of Gerber Technology. “And the region is an important one, particularly for apparel and automotive manufacturers. So, we want to be where our customers are. Locally, we have hired a number of electrical, mechanical and hardware engineers, and software testing personnel to fulfill growing operational requirements in China.”
