Buenos Aires gears up for leathergoods show

06/02/2004

Latin-America’s only fair dedicated to leather goods, leather garments, saddlery and luggage opens its doors in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires this Sunday.

Now in its 28th year, CECMA (Centro Expositor de las Manufacturas de Cuero y Afines/Exhibition for Leather Goods and Related Products) is a two-day, twice-yearly event organised by CIMA (Cámara Industrial de las Manufacturas de Cuero y Afines/Argentine Chamber of Leather Goods and Related Products).

This year’s shows will take place against the backdrop of a renewed push by the Argentine leathergoods sector in the international marketplace, and which will see the industry take a pavilion at APLF at the end of March.  According to CIMA, many international buyers who attended their stand at the October 2003 APLF have promised to attend this weekend’s event. The second CECMA of 2004 takes place August 8-10.
