Manufactured goods boost Pakistan leather exports

According to the Pakistani Federal Bureau of Statistics, the country’s exports of leather goods increased 1.4% to $377.78 million year-on-year, during July-December 2003.

 

Finished leather exports declined 8.3% to $105.6 million while exports of manufactured leather goods – including leather garments and gloves – increased 6.8% to $218.7 million. Footwear exports, meanwhile, rose 0.6% to $38.52 million.

 

For December 2003 alone, however, Pakistan’s export statistics were poor. Finished leather exports fell by a massive 47% to $10.4 million and exports of leather manufactured leather goods declined 5.2% to $36 million. Footwear exports, meanwhile, were down 20.4% to $4.8 million.
