Rohm and Haas appoints new head of leather business

12/01/2004

The US speciality chemicals producer, Rohm and Haas, has appointed Christopher J Gill as manager of its global leather chemicals business. He succeeds Charles E Cluthe who is retiring.

Gill has worked with Rohm and Haas for twenty years and has experience in both the company’s leather chemicals and coatings divisions. He joined the organisation as a leather chemist in 1983, and eventually became manager of product development and technical service for leather finishes. He moved to the coatings division in 1996 and since then has served in a number of global management capacities involving marketing, research, e-business and demand planning.

Rohm and Haas says that Gill’s appointment culminates a year of major organisational changes for the leather chemicals division. At the end of 2002, Rakesh Maurya was appointed as development manager for the leather business in India and at the beginning of 2003, A.C. (Tony) Lovell was chosen to direct the leather chemicals division’s business operations in the Asia Pacific region. During the year, Alexander K Campbell added responsibilities for the unit’s global automotive business and North American operations to his previous duties as worldwide product manager.
