Czech leather and leathergoods output down

05/01/2004

Industrial output in the Czech Republic was 5.2% up on the year before in  October 2003 and has been rising steadily for over a year,  the Czech Statistical Office (CSU) has reported.

However, the leather sector was not among those which contributed to the growth, being grouped with the coke, nuclear fuel, refined petroleum products and textiles industries as those which contracted.  The biggest rises were see in the output of transport equipment, rubber and plastic and paper products.  Output of consumer durables was up 7.5% on the year before.
