Pakistan leather exports plummet in November

The Pakistan leather sector performed poorly in the first five months of the financial year (July-November 2003) as exports fell 4.13% compared with the year before, to $302.34 million the country’s Federal Bureau of Statistics has advised.

 

Of the total export figure, finished leather accounted for $86.2 million (down 16.2% year on year), leather manufacturing (leather garments, leather gloves and other leather manufacturing) $184.413 million (-0.57%) and footwear $31.7 million (-1%).

 

The figures for November were even worse, as finished leather exports were down 52% year-on-year to $10.552 million while leather manufacturing only managed to scrape $42.6 million (-36.90%).  Pakistan’s footwear exports were down 53.8% to $3.988 million.
