The Ostashkov tannery in Russia’s Tver region has been named ‘Best Developing Exporter’ in the light industry category of the government’s exporter awards for 2002.

The ZAO group tannery earned the award from the Ministry of Economic Trade and Development on the basis of the volume of its output, which accounted for almost a quarter of all Russian leather exports during the year.  It also recognised the company’s achievement in doubling its output of chrome leather.

Ostashkov Tannery exports wet blue, crust and finished leather for shoe uppers to customers in Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Turkey, and Australia. ZAO group’s ‘Chrome’ tannery in Yaroslav region, producing finished leathers , is a previous recipient of the award.
