European Glove Association gathers momentum

11/12/2003

The ranks of the European Glove Association (EGA) have been swelled with the addition of nine new member companies during October/November 2003.

The companies are; Dent Accessories (Warminster, UK), Hunor (Pecs, Hungary), Glover (Romania), Tanneries Nouvelles Peschdo (France),  Edmins (St Petersburg, Russia), Peschawear (Croydon, UK), Taubert Textile (Freising, Germany), Roeckl Handschuhe (Munich, Germany) and Brandt Lederfabrik (Kokkola, Finland).

“These latest additions show the extent to which the European Glove Association is becoming recognised as the definitive represenatative body for the continent’s glove manufacturers and their suppliers,” commented EGA President, Dave Pearce. “They are also testament to the efforts being made by the founder members of the organisation to attract new members.”

“With the increasing globalisation of the fashion industry and the growing threat posed by cheap imports from Asia, the need for the European glove industry to unite and speak with a single voice has become imperative.  The EGA provides that voice.   But we will not be resting on our laurels.   If the interests of the industry are to be safeguarded, now more than ever, it is essential for us to go on attracting new members.”   Founded in 2002, the European Glove Association (EGA) represents the interests of organisations involved in the design, manufacture and supply of gloves from across the continent, as well as their material suppliers. The latest additions bring the EGA membership to 30 companies.
