Vietnamese and Chinese leather associations look to the future

09/12/2003

The Vietnam Leather Industry Association and the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) met in Beijing, China recently to discuss collaborations between the countries’ shoe-making, leather chemicals, leather machinery and training industries.

The director-general of the Vietnamese association, Miss Ryan Sishong, encouraged the organisations to forge stronger communication links using advanced technologies while CLIA’s deputy director, Madame Zhang Shu Hua, said the association was planning to visit Vietnam to find ways of improving their collaboration.

When the two organisations met two years ago, the Vietnamese association asked if trainees could visit China to gain technical guidance. Since the meeting, the CLIA has introduced new leather and leather chemicals companies in Vietnam and offered technical training to Vietnamese students in Chinese universities.
