According to statistics from Wenzhou Customs, China, the city’s trade figures increased 30.1% to $3.70 billion during January-October 2003. Exports went up 28.4% to $2.82 billion while imports increased 36.6% to $878 million.
During the period, Wenzhou’s trading activities with Italy, the Ukraine, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) rose 40%. Footwear exports to Italy were particularly strong, increasing a massive 195% to $46.63 million.
