Richina looks to move to Bermuda

21/11/2003

The parent organisation to Shanghai Richina Leather, Richina Pacific, is to seek shareholder agreement to relocate to Bermuda from New Zealand by the end of the year.

In a statement the company said that transferring to Bermuda will be the first of a number of initiatives. The next will be the headquartering of the company in Singapore.

Richina says that ultimately its primary listing market is likely to be Singapore with a second listing in New Zealand.

The firm has around 3,500 shareholders and plans to hold a special shareholder meeting on December 10 2003.

The news follows Richina’s downgrading of its annual profit forecast by A$2.5 million ($1.9 million) to A$4 million ($3.1 million) due to the underperformance of its Shanghai Richina Leather (SRL) operation. (See leatherbiz.com story, Richina downgrades profit forecast - 24.10).
