Vietnam’s footwear and leather product exports grow 24%

According to figures from Vietnam’s Trade Ministry, the country’s footwear and leather product exports grew 24% to $1.67 billion during the first nine months of 2003.

 

The European Union (EU) was the industry’s main market, accounting for 80% of footwear exports. This was followed by the US and Japan.

 

The Vietnamese government said it expects that footwear exports will total $2.25 billion in 2003, of which the EU will account for $1.8 billion.

 

Vietnam’s export turnover exceeded $1.83 billion during 2002, making it the fourth largest footwear and leather product exporter in the world after China, Hong Kong and Italy.
