Russia's foreign trade was up 26.1% to $113 billlion in the six months ended July 31 2003, the country’s Trade Ministry has announced, yielding a surplus of $33 billion, 60% up on the year before. Exports increased 28.1% to $72.95 billion while imports were up 22.5% to $39.91 billion. Exports to the CIS climbed 33.4% to $11.285 billion while non- CIS exports rose 27% to $61.66 billion. CIS imports rose 23% to $8.063 billion and non-CIS imports increased 22.4% to $31.84 billion. Russia's trade surplus in July 2003 amounted to $4.37 billion compared with $3.76 billion in July 2002 as trade rose 20% to $17.61 billion . Exports for the month were 19.3% up on the year before to $10.99 billion, and imports by + 21.3% to $6.62 billion.
